Senate Biographies

Adam Talbot - At-Large

Adam is a two-time Speaker, third-year Senator, and four-year GUSA veteran. A senior in the College studying Government and Chinese, he spent his junior year abroad studying at the London School of Economics. This year he hopes for a successful and pragmatic allocation of the SAFE Endowment, meaningful Access to Benefits reform that brings us in line with our peer institutions, and a Code of Conduct that treats students fairly. His interests include Corp coffee, Ravel's Piano Concerto in G Major, and Todd Olson.

Ben Weiss - At-Large

Ben is a freshman in the College from Long Beach, Long Island. Ben serves on the Student Life committee and plans on majoring in Government. Outside of GUSA Ben is a member of Georgetown Rugby and the College Democrats. He is an avid fan of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Kurt Vonnegut, Billy Collins, and Seinfeld.

Blair “Harrison” Meek - Village B

Blair “Harrison” Meek is a sophomore in the College, hoping to major in Sociology and Government. He hails from Hyattsville,Md(a little city right outside D.C.) and is proud to be returning for his second year in the senate representing all of Village B (a.k.a The Rat Trap) and serving as Vice-chair on the Community Building and Outreach Committee . His main issues this year will be student cohesion and student rights. He enjoys awkward silence, stand-up comedy, watching South Park, playing Smash and rooting for dem’ Cowboys. He hopes to continue to keep things happening or fresh on the Senate, whichever comes first.

Bridget Power - Townhouses

Bridget Power is a senior in the College majoring in American Studies. She is an American from Toronto, Ontario. Here at Georgetown, she is a tutor in the Writing Center, a member of GERMS, and a student governor on the Georgetown University Alumni Association's Board of Governors. Last spring, she served as a GUSA senator from Alumni Square on the Community Building and Outreach Committee and the Endowment Commission. This year, she represents the Townhouses as member of the Finance and Appropriations Committee. She loves being a hoya!

Christopher Chang - Harbin Hall 2-5

Christopher, also known as Yupang, is a freshman from Tokyo, Japan. He is hoping to major in Finance and Accounting. He is currently the GUSA Senator representing Harbin Hall floors 2-5. Christopher looks forward to serving his constituents in Harbin Hall as well as serving on the Senate’s Finance and Appropriations Committee. He loves hanging, singing (a member of the Capitol G’s), and playing tennis and basketball.

Clara Gustafson - Village A A-D

My name is Clara Gustafson and I am in my third year as a GUSA Senator. This year I am representing Village A A-D and I am very excited to be doing so! I am a junior in the SFS. I am always reachable via email (cjg44@georgetown.edu) and I am always open to meeting up with any and all students (you don't have to just be my constituent) who have concerns or have ideas they want help implementing! GUSA is for and by the students, so just know you can always hit me up and let me know what I can do to help make your Georgetown experience better. In my spare time I run around playing ultimate frisbee and studying for bio and international security exams (because I am a STIA major). Hoya Saxa!

Daniel LaMagna - Henle Village

Daniel LaMagna is from the DC area and likes representing the second half of Henle. One of his main goals is to make GUSA more transparent by regularly updating the students he represents and meeting with them individually throughout the year. As a member of the Student Life Committee, he also wants GUSA to focus on accomplishing practical objectives rather than get bogged down with long-term projects most students don't care about. He also thinks you should do yourself a favor and listen to Kanye West's latest solo album if you have not done so already.

Dänish Zaidi - Village C East

Danish Zaidi is from East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. A junior in the College majoring in Theology and minoring in Jewish Civilization, Danish is currently representing Village C East. He is also involved in ResLife, Rangila, and - from time to time - The Guide. He rowed for Georgetown his freshmen year, became less athletic, and now loves intramural sports. Danish cannot wait to work with the Senate to make moves in order to make Georgetown more epic. <3

Eitan Paul - Off-Campus

Eitan is senior in the SFS from Princeton Junction, NJ. He is an International Politics major. Last year, Eitan served as Chair of the Georgetown International Relations Club. He was also the Co-Chair of the Student Group Union Steering Committee and is a co-author of the 2011 Student Life Report. In his free time, Eitan enjoys listening to jazz and playing the saxophone.

George Smith - Reynolds Hall

George Smith is a Sophomore from Houston, Texas. He is an Economics and English Major in the College. George is currently representing Reynolds Hall, serves on the Senate Community Building and Outreach Committee, the Executive Speech and Expression Committee, and served on the Community Outreach Committee his Freshman year. He is an amiable and open person who loves to interact with people. He loves to travel, dance, laugh, live, and learn.

Laura Kresse - McCarthy Hall

Laura hails from Hamburg, Germany and is a senior in the SFS, majoring in International Politics. This year is her second year as the Chairwoman of the Student Life Committee that works on issues such as student dining, housing, safety and advocacy. Laura is also an active member of the Justice and Diversity Living and Learning Community, Sexual Assault Peer Educators and Alpha Phi Omega. In her free time, she enjoys reading, field hockey and catching up on German politics.

Lexi Cotcamp - Darnall Hall

A first-year senator, Lexi hails from Southern California and is a freshman in the McDonough School of Business. Currently considering a double major in business administration and marketing, Lexi hopes to pursue a career that will combine her passion for business, writing, and food. When she is not representing the awesomeness of Darnall Hall as a general senator, Lexi serves as a member of the Senate’s Finance and Appropriations Committee. Outside of GUSA, Lexi enjoys traversing the outdoors, traveling, and dabbling in the wonderful world of gastronomy.

Luke Devlin - Village A E-H

My name is Luke Devlin and I represent Village A E-H this year. I previously represented Henle 48-96 last year as a sophomore. I am a junior in the college majoring in History and minoring in Government and Economics. I am originally from New York, and am a die hard Yankees and Giants fan. I am a big fan of Bruce Springsteen, Steven Spielberg movies, and peanut butter.

Matt Morris - LXR Hall

Matt is a sophomore from Atlanta, GA. He is considering majoring in philosophy and political economy. In this his second year on the GUSA senate he is looking forward to working once again on the Community Building and Outreach Committee. He loves music and playing the guitar as well as the Los Angeles Lakers and Atlanta Braves.

Robert Shepherd - Village C West

Robert Shepherd is a freshman from Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Robert represents Village C West and is a member of the Community Building and Outreach Committee. When not busy with schoolwork and GUSA, he enjoys running, skiing, and working as a volunteer.

Scotie Conner - Harbin Hall 6-9

Scotie is a freshman from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He is considering a major in International Political Economy and Business. He is honored and excited to represent Harbin 6-9 this year! Scotie proudly serves on the Student Life Committee. He is an avid fan of Whole Foods, the OKC Thunder, and weekly fire alarms in Harbin.

Shavonnia Corbin-Johnson - At-Large

Shavonnia Corbin-Johnson is a sophomore from the land near the Amish called York, Pa. She is in the SFS majoring in Culture and Politics with a certificate in Islam-Muslim and Christian Understanding. This is her first year on GUSA, and she serves as Vice- Chair for Student Life. She is the Assistant Director of the Gospel Choir, a French tutor, and an intern at the French Embassy. She loves sports, singing, music and anything international. Sheila Walsh - Copley Hall

Sheila is a sophomore from Ballston Spa, New York. She is a Government major in the College. She is currently the GUSA Senator representing Copley Hall. This is Sheila's second year serving on the Senate Finance and Appropriations Committee. She is also a contributor to the GUSA Executive's highly anticipated 2011 Student Life Report. Outside of GUSA, Sheila interns at the University Investment Office and leads campus tours as a Blue & Gray tour guide. Sheila is grateful for the opportunity to serve her fellow HOYAs and looks forward to bettering the University together!

Tom Hupez - Off-Campus

Tom is a DC native and a Senior in the School of Foreign Service. He is majoring in International Politics and minoring in European Studies. This is his second year in the senate, this year living off campus, and he looks forward to his work within the Community Building & Outreach Committee. He enjoys traveling, waffles, running to Nelly lyrics, and Wisey’s BLT.

Zach Singer - New South

Zach is a freshman in the SFS from Boston, Massachusetts. He lives and represents the best freshman residence hall, New South. He is amember of the Senate Finance and Appropriations committee, and he looks forwardto improving life on the Hilltop with the help of his fellow Hoyas. Zach is amember of the lightweight crew team here at Georgetown and is a big fan of theBoston Bruins, Irish soccer and rugby teams, techno music, and laughing. HoyaSaxa!

Ziad Jawadi - At-Large

My name is Ziad Jawadi and I am a GUSA Senator at-large. I am a Freshmen in the College, double majoring in Government and Arabic, with two certificates in Muslim-Christian Understanding and Arab Studies. I like hip-hop and country, I'm a politics nerd, and I am currently on the hunt for America's best burger. I am an outgoing social butterfly, so feel free to say hi to me whenever!
