About the Senate
The Senate is the unicameral legislative body of the Student Association, presently composed of 25 representatives elected from geographical districts around the campus. As a result of its geographical composition, Senators are directly accountable to small groups of constituents – helping to make the Senate the part of the Student Association that is most directly responsive to student concerns. It is charged with enacting laws and overseeing the administrative actions of the Executive Branch. The Senate also has broad fiduciary and oversight powers over virtually all aspects of campus life through its system of Standing and Select Committees, all of which are vested with the power of subpoena.
Perhaps the most important obligation of the Senate is its Constitutional plenary responsibility to allocate and oversee the annual Student Activities Fee, which funds most student organizations on campus.
