About the Constitutional Council
The high judicial interpretive authority of GUSA is vested in the Constitutional Council of the Georgetown University Student Association. The Constitutional Council is comprised of three Councilors who, once they are appointed by the President and confirmed by a majority vote of the Senate, serve until they graduate from the University. It is tasked with settling any disputes over the Constitution, By-Laws, and Laws of the Student Association, and its decisions are binding. It also serves as the Elections Appeals Board, and may by majority vote reverse any decision of the GUSA Election Commission. Any student may bring a petition before the Constitutional Council, which may then hear the case and deliver a ruling by majority vote.
